On April 27, 2018 The House of Representatives passed the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2018 (H.R.4), a long-term reauthorization of the FAA. We are happy to share that Section 336, also known as the Special Rule for Model Aircraft, is included in this bill with meaningful refinements that we supported to help make it stronger. We especially want to thank the thousands of members who participated in our Call to Action in the last few weeks to let Congress know the importance of protecting our hobby. Your efforts during this critical time have made a significant impact.
Attention BARKS Members
From AMA Government Relations. As of 12/12/2017, President Trump has signed a bill making UAS (most model aircraft) registration a federal requirement again, including for AMA members. For more information and frequently asked questions, please visit the AMA federal registration page here....
Flight safety issues occurred during this past summer which the BARKS officers have addressed by imposing new flight restrictions on all model aircraft. A copy has been attached to each of the three field shelters and it is also available on the BARKS website by clicking Club Info\Documents\BARKS Rules and Regulations\BARKS Flight Patterns. These new regulations are effective immediately.
The following rule remains in effect indefinitely:
Models with internal combustion engines are not to be flown before 10:30 AM on Sunday mornings.
